Conservation Idea Nets $5,000 Annual Savings
Dr. Nathan Rich works on immune system and cancer research in the Professor George Weiner Lab in MERF, Medical Education Research Facility on the Health Sciences Campus.
Dr. Rich noticed that an entire set of lights at the end of each lab stayed off all day, but came on at night.
The lights burned all night long, and could not be shut off by a switch. |
The lights were an architectural design feature to add a warm “glow” to the building at night.
As a result of Dr. Rich’s suggestion, the lights are now set to come on at dusk and turn off at midnight, therefore saving many hours of use, and a $5,000 savings to the University.
