Open from 9 am to 5 pm on the UI Pentacrest and in the Old Capitol Town Center.  

Tours

University of Iowa Power Plant tours will be conducted hourly between 9 am and 2 pm for groups of 18-21 people per tour. A sign up sheet is at the Power Plant/Quaker Oats booth.

Kirk Amrhein, Dell - "Plant A Tree For Me"
Kirk Amrhein joined Dell in July of 1999 and has worked strictly with mid-western Higher Education customers during his eight year tenure. His partnership with the University of Iowa has assisted the campus in promoting the adoption of energy efficient technology products. He was instrumental in driving the migration of nearly 600 CRT monitors to Flat Panel displays during 2005 & 2006. He will be presenting on Dell's Environmental initiatives, such as, the Plant a Tree for Me program. The program is designed to provide Dell customers with the opportunity to offset the CO2 emissions related to their use of technology.

Doug Litwiller, PE,CEM, joined Interstate Power and Light (IPL) -Alliant Energy in March of 1998 and is currently a project engineer in the account management section of IPL. In addition to helping IPL’s large commercial and industrial customers find energy efficiency improvement opportunities, Doug is also the “go-to” person when it comes to bioenergy/biorenewable energy systems. Doug helps educate customers on such topic as biomass to energy systems, anaerobic digesters, landfill gas energy systems, and will also help the customers implement these systems.  Read More...

Billy Parish is founder of the Climate Campaign and recent recipient of the Brower Youth Award from the Earth Island Institute. Parish was recently elected to be a Fellow by Ashoka (http://ashoka.org), "the global association of the world's leading social entrepreneurs".  “For my generation,” says the 23-year-old once-and-future Yale student, “global warming activism is a call to arms — because we are the ones who will have to deal with its growing consequences. And our efforts are at the same time a plea for accountability to the generation now in power; they have allowed the crisis to get to this point.” Read More...

Peter brings significant renewable energy experience from GE Energy where he was General Manager— Marketing for GE Energy’s wind business, where he was responsible for new product introductions and global strategy.
